# Comparable surveys and quality criteria

Reviewed November 2, 2026. **This is not the first AI compute or neocloud survey.** Several existing products are broader or deeper in their specialist field. The comparison below describes the public pages inspected, not an exhaustive test of commercial products or a universal ranking.

| Survey | What its inspected public page provides | Implication for this site |
|---|---|---|
| [Epoch AI](https://epoch.ai/data/ai-data-centers) | Dated AI-site estimates, coverage and uncertainty; companion chip-owner/user datasets. | Credit its original work, preserve units, and label incomplete coverage. Our synthesis does not supersede its underlying models. |
| [SemiAnalysis / ClusterMAX](https://www.clustermax.ai/) | Cloud quality assessment based on testing; separate construction, rental and ownership-economics models. | Separate source-linked desk research from measured provider quality. Link to specialist tools rather than invent ratings. |
| [AI Compute Tracker](https://aicomputetracker.com/deals/) | An October 15 snapshot of 101 differently typed deals, with stated figures, later changes, primary/press source distinctions and downloads. | A close comparator for the deal ledger. Record count is not comparable without matching scope, deal type, renewal treatment and cutoff. |
| [American Compute](https://www.amcompute.com/offtake-tracker) | An October 10 snapshot of 67 public contracts, financing exposure and implied unit economics. | Useful cross-check for credit and contract structure. Re-read the actual contract before inferring a firm minimum. |
| [Data Center Census](https://datacentercensus.com/neoclouds) | Company comparisons connected to site, permit, local-policy and map tools. | We need stage-aware site evidence, not just company announcements. Our site subtotals remain incomplete. |
| [Compute.World](https://compute.world/neoclouds) | Provider locations, regional distinctions and machine-readable records; its inspected neocloud snapshot is dated August 19. | Do not fabricate city coordinates or treat regional marketing availability as installed company-owned capacity. |
| [Compute Desk](https://www.compute-desk.com/indexes-overview), [Silicon Data](https://www.silicondata.com/products/silicon-index), [SemiAnalysis pricing](https://gpu-index.semianalysis.com/) | Specialist rental indices or survey ranges with different methodologies and contract definitions. | Retain exact dates, terms, provider segments and percentile ranges. A blended composite, a one-year benchmark, a retail reservation and a spot quote are different observations. |

The practical quality bar for this page is verifiability and useful integration:

1. Every displayed material claim has a source, observation date, unit and evidence type. A source link is provenance, not independent verification.
2. Contract figures distinguish nominal value, binding minimum, options, cancellation rights, hardware purchases and facility leases. A resale of the same capacity is not a second fleet.
3. Power distinguishes IT, facility, chip TDP, generation nameplate, annual energy, online stock and annual additions. Forecasts and scenarios do not become actuals.
4. Price comparisons preserve configuration, region, interconnect, term and prepayment. Same-series historical changes state both endpoints; no invented discount fills an empty cell.
5. Source notes disclose genuine disagreements, revisions and differences in definition as different cases. Both claims and the display choice are accessible by hover, keyboard and tap.
6. Tables and filtered data are downloadable; common chart axes, readable labels, working sources, mobile layout and the offline bundle are checked.

This review can establish those concrete qualities. It cannot substantiate being best across every market, source or future update. Outstanding coverage and confidence limits remain part of the page.
